Description

Hull is a proud, confident, outward-looking city, transformed by its spectacular year as UK City of Culture and more than £3bn of investment in culture, people and place.  Working with our partners across the public, private and third sectors, Hull City Council has driven this transformation and we are now firmly focused on the next, exciting stage of Hull’s journey.  Building on recent economic, social and cultural successes, our vision is to deliver economic growth for all, to create inclusive, resilient and safe communities and to deliver organisational excellence in partnership.

Improving outcomes for children, young people and families is at the heart of this vision and we are looking to recruit an inspirational and strategic senior leader who will be pivotal to fulfilling our ambitions, ensuring that present and future generations reap the benefits of Hull’s renaissance.  This is an opportunity to be part of a passionate and committed team, recognised as ‘Senior Leadership Team’ of the Year at the MJ Awards 2019, and to be part of Hull’s continuing success story.

Our AD for Children’s Safeguarding will lead our improvement journey in this crucial service area.  Our investment in social work is beginning to make a real difference but we realise that we need to build on the progress we have made and drive the next stage of our development.  We need an experienced and resilient AD to ensure strong practice and minimise drift and delay, in order to improve the lives of some of our most vulnerable children, young people and their families.

The role will report to our Director of Children, Young People and Family Services, and will be a key officer in an ambitious council which is focused on the future.
